I packed my bags and said goodbye
to a life where I always had to lie
I kissed my momma’s head and cried
I won’t be seeing her for a while.
I quit my job just yesterday
That place was awful in every way
And though I had no reason to stay
I felt pretty sad I must say

But this journey’s been wild
since I was just a little child
but the sun will shine on me someday

So I took that plane and flew to spain
Where I thought my life would know no pain
well guess what surprise it wasn’t the case
but I’ll admit I’m in a better place
Galicia’s pretty rainy and cold
and everyone around here is so old
true I never dreamed I’d make it this far
But I wanna pay the bills with this guitar

but all I do is moan
gratitude is something I’ve never shown
